We spoke to Tony Nevin, writer for Animal Therapy Magazine and Clinical Director with the only MSc in Animal Osteopathy in the UK, to find out what he thinks about BETA International, Sponsored by Neue Schule, his background in animal care, and what he's most looking forward to for the 2025 event.
Q: What is the core focus of your magazine?
A: From the magazine's point of view, we are built on a strong foundation of being a source of condensed information sharing for all things supporting the various animal care professions, and also anyone with a strong interest in animals.
Q: How do you view BETA International’s role in the industry?
A: BETA International has a solid reputation for showcasing all that is great and cutting edge with regards to the equestrian world, and for being an open shop window for the industry as a whole.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about BETA International 2025?
A: I am most looking forward to adding our ability to further share and promote all that is on show at BETA International, as well as introducing our unique niche publication to the wider industry.
Q: What do you personally enjoy most about live events like BETA International?
A: I love meeting and chatting face to face with the names behind some of the great equestrian products and services. Virtual meetings have their place, but people really open up and share so much more when it's a live event.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your background?
A: I graduated as an osteopath in 1988 and did a further degree in 2010 looking at research in osteopathy. I have been treating animals (as well as my human clinical work) since 1991 and so far, I've worked on around 300+ different species of domestic, exotic, and wildlife.
b
A: Mostly my animal patients are horses and dogs, and I have developed a special interest in treating patients with long-term movement and behaviour issues.
Q: Do you have any roles in education?
A: I am also the clinical director, the only MSc in Animal Osteopathy in the UK, and regularly run teaching workshops and CPD events.
Q: What is your connection to Animal Therapy Magazine?
A: I have written for Animal Therapy Magazine since its inception and latterly became part of the team that Hannah Ashton created.
Q: What are your hopes for being Official Supporters with BETA International?
A: I’m very much looking forward to working with the BETA International team and supporting the show, alongside Animal Therapy Magazine, through this exciting period of growth under the new ownership of Raccoon Media Group.
